Little Maritime Academy, Monday 13.7. – Saturday 18.7., 9 – 12 a.m., Ivan Klobučarić Square (in front of the DUBoak Interpretation Centre)

We invite maritime heritage enthusiasts of all ages—young and old—to sign up for the first “Little Maritime Academy,” taking place this summer from July 13th to 18th, between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM!

The Little Maritime Academy is an educational and interpretive program designed and led by the duo Ivo Bogović and Iva Volović. Through an interactive, hands-on approach, it introduces participants to the maritime heritage of the Adriatic. Combining theory and practice, participants explore traditional Adriatic vessels—with a special focus on the *pasara* boat MK 310 from Malinska—learn basic nautical knots and their uses, discover boat components and local maritime terminology (nautical jargon and local expressions), and explore different propulsion methods (oars and sails). They also develop basic rowing skills and try their hand at sailing with a traditional lug sail. The program also covers basic maritime signals through games and team challenges, both on shore and aboard the vessel.

The Academy takes place outdoors by the sea (in front of DUBoak) and is open to participants aged 10 to 90, with a maximum of 10 students per group. Participation in the Little Maritime Academy is free, but registration via the following form is mandatory: https://forms.gle/k8VFGRiYJzkYiLUf8
